BASIC BUSHCRAFT - including fire making, water and shelter.

This programme focuses on some of the key areas of outdoor living perceived by many as survival skills. Although the knowledge shared here explores the principles of dealing with emergency situations it can also be used to enhance any trip into the outdoors. We take a hands on approach in our teaching and you will have plenty of opportunity to create fire using several different methods. We will also examine methods of making our water safe and have chance to explore some fundamental shelter designs.

This programme takes the fire making process much further back in history exploring perhaps the oldest method ever used by human kind to utilise fire. You will be involved in the construction of the equipment and be thoroughly taught the correct technique to allow for success. Time permitting you may also have a chance to build your friction fire sufficiently to cook a tasty treat on.

WILD FOOD FORAGE - identification and tasting

At one time we all relied heavily on the landscape to provide our basic needs including food. Much of this legacy still survives in fields, woods and hedgerows. Join us as we identify, gather, cook and taste some of the wealth of species available as food and medicine. This is a great way to reconnect with the landscape and to enhance anytime spent in the great outdoors
